Rough week

This has been a busy week filled with work, doctors and other such adventures. After having little man my initial plan was not to go to work at all just stay at home and spend my day with my sweet little guy. But then one night I got a phone call asking if I could substitute at the local highschool on post (I sort of forgot I was still signed up). I decided: "why not, an occasional day here or there couldn't hurt." I have been subbing two to three days a week ever since and J. has been hanging out with either his Oma and Opa, my friend G, or his godmother A. I am still terrified of daycare.  But this week he has been in rare form.

On Monday he was an angel for his Opa on Tuesday an Angel for A. but at night he has not been sleeping well at all, wakes up again every 2 if i am lucky 3 hours. Wednesday we had to go to Nashville and he was fussy 3/4 of the way home. Thursday and Friday the fuss continued.  We just couldn't figure out why he was so fussy. Turns out his top two teeth are bugging him. His gums are swollen. But that's not all. This week was just too busy for him. So today is a dedicated baby stay at home day. We are going to play and hang out. :D

Because in the end who can resist this smile?

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Boobs, it is all about the boob!!!

I have had a request or at least an interest in boob hats for a while. So I decided to finally make some and made one for my little man (on the left) and one for baby M. (on the right) my friends son who is about 6 weeks younger than J.

These hats have already been a hit with friends and family and I hope to have them become a hit with you, my readers.  For more images of finished projects and other things I make and sell check out my facebook. It shows you things I have made and also gives you the ability to send me ideas of items you might want.

I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoyed the view of the boob. :D

Food for little man

Most days, I try to provide homecooked food for my little man and that is usually a fresh fruit or vegetable just for him. :D In this case I want to share my mashed sweet potato "recipe" with you. I do believe it is more a short set of instructions than a recipe, since making baby sweet potatoes is super easy and anyone can pick up on it in no time.

Baby sweet taters (J. loves them)

  • 1-3 good sized sweet potatoes
  • water
First you peel and wash the sweet potatoes, then you cut them into chunks (it makes them cook faster). After the sweet potatoes are all cleaned and prepped you put them in a pot of water and boil them until they are soft.

Once boiled, I strain them rinse them and mash them with an immersion blender and add water until I have the consistency I want.

While I wait on the potatoes to cool I usually hang out with little man who is sitting in his highchair playing waiting for his food.

After he has been fed (anywhere from one to three helpings, very hungry caterpillarlike) I am able to pack the potatoes up and store them in the fridge. They will usually last us about 3-4 days depending on this appetite.

I hope you all enjoyed this recipe and will come back soon. There will be more recipes to follow.

Thankful Thursdays

I have decided that instead of venting and being negative like I would like to be I will be thankful for the things I have and share the 5 thins in my life that I am most thankful for.

  1. My son. I am thankful to have a happy (mostly) and healthy baby boy who is as cute as can be.
  2. My Husband.  I am grateful that he puts up with me on my crazy, good, and bad days no matter what mood I am in or how I feel he is there for me.
  3. The dog because life would be so much less interesting without him
  4. the gift to nurse and nuture my child from home I wouldn't have it anyways. The choice between working and staying home I would much more prefer to stay at home with the munchkin.
  5. My family as a whole my friends and family are my support system and without them I honestly don't know what I would do.
There are of course many other thins I am grateful for and that I appreciate but these are my top five.

So tell me what are you thankful for ?

Snack Sunday

Today I will post about food.
As I have previously mentioned I am a "crunchy" momma and in my case that includes making food from scratch for my little man. Since he is only 5 months old we have only tried fruits and veggies mashed. But so far he has eaten, carrots, peas, apples, potatoes, and sweet potatoes. He has had all of these individually or as mixtures as follows
  • apples, carrots and potatoes
  • apples and sweet potato
  • peas and sweet potato
  • carrots and apples
We have also tried Gerber baby food, but he did not like it as much as mommy's food. I will also start sharing my recipes here for the food that I make for J. He enjoys it and I want to start sharing it so that others can benefit from my journey. Until then a happy picture of a happy baby eating peas.

A new beginning...

How to start this blog?
I never know how to start a blog, this is my third and final attempt at blogging, and hopefully I will succeed. I am planning to use this as a site to share my experiences about my family, my small business and everything in between.

I am a mom specifically a stay at home mom to a wonderful little boy J. and my dog L. and a wife to my husband G. I love them all. I also have a small business, which is more like a hobby. I crochet (and craft on occasion even sew) anything that one can imagine. Of course I have my limits, but I love yarn and hooks ( I am hooked =D).

I read other blogs and spend time with other moms and friends. I am also passionate about food (not all as healthy as I wish for it to be) both for me and my family, but most of all for little man. I love making his baby food and seeing wether he likes it or not. It is quite entertaining. I also try to cook several wholesome meals a week.

I am also trying to become more physically fit and will include this journey to a better me in this blog. It should be interesting to see if the third try is the charm. For now I wish to welcome you to my blog and hope that you will enjoy my journeys through, family, food, and life with me.
